The Gambia OIC Secretariat earlier this week received in audience a high-level delegation from the Republic of Turkey on a Security Needs Assessment Mission in The Gambia ahead of the forthcoming OIC Summit.
The aim of the visit is to engage relevant local security stakeholders involved with the ongoing Summit preparations in an effort to identify and provide additional support.
The delegation met with the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Amb. Essa Bokarr Sey and Senior Management of the Secretariat.
He welcomed the team and extended gratitude to the government of Turkey for contributing immensely to the preparatory efforts.
Following the courtesy call on the Secretariat, the delegation separately met with members of the Local Organizing Committee for the OIC Summit as well as the Security Subcommittee.
Along similar lines, the visiting delegation on Monday also held closed-door meetings with the Minister of Interior and the Inspector General of Police.
The coming of the Turkish team was in response to an official visit to Turkey led by the Minister of Interior.
